Stray Puppets (M. Polacek)
I get my coffee at the Beanery across the street from Starbucks (partially because they have a community board but refused to let me put a band flyer on it.) But one day, my wife and I were walking past as some fellow was in the midst of a war with some seagulls. He was throwing Starbuck chairs at them along with a full broadside of filthy oaths and impossible commands. They chortled in the way that seabirds do and had no trouble dodging. A very brave young woman barista came out and ran the fellow off. With his strings broken, he was able to retreat to a safer place down the street.
Lyrics
Stray Puppets
Hey Joe, where’d you go
How you gonna get home?
No shoes no shirt no sealing wax
Now your taxis gone away
Trash the room, trash the street
Trash anyone as they walk by
Trash your life, trash your friends
You’re a puppet gone astray
Hey Hey, whud they say
When the pigeons all flew away?
There a devil in you, a demon in them
Or just puppets gone astray?
Halftime Break
Hey Hey, Hey Hey Heya
Hey Hey, Hey Hey Heya
Here they come uh there you go
You hiding inside of your hide
No playground here, no fireflies
There’s no childhood left to find
What’s your poison, what’s your string?
Which string would make you whole?
Whud they take, Whud they steal
In your mind there’s left a hole
Hey Hey, whud they say
When the pigeons all flew away?
There a devil in you, a demon in them
Or just puppets gone astray?
Quiet 4 beats then Keyboard/Guitar Solo
Hey Hey, whud they say
When the pigeons all flew away?
There a devil in you, a demon in them
Or just puppets gone astray?
