As we are working on Sour Alley's fourth album, the great COVID pandemic of 2020 has made an impact on everything and everyone. The first tune that came from the quarantine was a light jazzing thing called Soft Side of Midnight. Measles & Lice is the second tune that came from an ED nurse sarcastically telling me to write a song about measles or lice since that was the theme of the day. Both are mixed and mastered with Tim Lamberson transforming it into a video.
But at the same time, my childhood friend Dr. Anthony Zaccaglin after some time of discussing traumatic brain injuries. He suggested we cover a blend of My Sweet Lord and part of Good Vibrations. We both grew up in Hawthorne, CA so Brian Wilson tunes are always parked somewhere. The day we talked about this, a tune and a couple of lines immediately popped forth--"I hurt my head, I hurt my brainĀ . . . " and then "I always wanted to be a hero. I knew I could never be a saint. But hot blood's flowing deep inside of me, and today I've changed, I never thought I could say--I got life on the run!" The tune is done, just waiting now for some studio time.
Other potential songs include an old one that didn't want to be recorded "Lone Wolf" and a couple more that need finishing up. Hopefully before tomato canning time!
Cheers and Peace
Michael
